Assessments Parent Conferences 4/3-7:  Written assessments are handed out 3/27. Your child’s teachers carefully observe your child to assess for appropriate developmental milestones. Children develop at their own pace so the criteria we follow offers a broad age range for each milestone. Some children might reach a designated milestone at 7 months old. But others might reach it at 4 months or 10 months.  If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teachers, sign up below. Of course you can always call or ask a quick question too.

Labeling your child’s items: Please label everything with your child’s name. All clothing, bags, lunch boxes, shoes, blankets, sheets… yes everything. Infant & Toddler Center, please label all bottles, cups, individual food containers, etc with your child’s name and date before the items are brought into school. Please label Breast Milk, newly pumped or frozen with your child’s name & date.

Costanso Street Resurfacing: Some of our streets are getting resurfaced sometime in March. Watch for no parking signs etc.

Refillable water bottle: If you are not already doing so, please send a full child size refillable water bottle to school every day with your child’s name on it. We will refill as needed each day and send home for cleaning and refilling. If every child has one we can save the earth by drastically reducing our daily use of throw away cups. 🙂

Sheets & Blankets: All children must have a sheet & blanket for nap time everyday.  Please make sure to send a sheet & blanket at the start of the week.  Please have your child’s name printed on them.

Wear Sunscreen Everyday: It’s Sunscreen Time! If you’ve stopped applying daily sunscreen, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Children (10 months- 6yrs)  should come to school wearing an SPF 30 or more on all exposed areas of the skin. We also recommend wearing a hat. Extra sunscreen should be kept at school as well. We will be having a lot of outdoor fun!  (Always consult your child’s physician.)

Spring Change of Clothes: Please make sure your child has at least one complete set of extra spring clothes & shoes. Don’t forget to label everything.

2017 – 2018 Enrollment:  It’s time to make plans for the next school year.  Can you believe it?!  Good News! Your child’s space has already been reserved.  On February 20, your account will be automatically billed a non-refundable $199 deposit (per family) to confirm the reservation. In September, the non-refundable $199 deposit will be applied toward the Materials and Supplies fee of $199. This fee is used to purchase new supplies & equipment for the children throughout the year.   After March 1, we will begin filling spaces with children on our waiting list.  New applications will also be accepted if space permits.  Space is limited in every class.  If your child will not be attending for the upcoming school year, please complete this online form by 2/15. We look forward to celebrating our 38th year with you and your family.

Cold & Flu Season:  At Halsey Schools, we follow our written Illness Policy and written illness prevention procedures.  We make every effort to assure your child contracts as few illnesses as possible.  However, most children and adults will contract at least one illness between now and April.  Remember to wash your child’s hands everyday before leaving school or any other social event.
