Weekly Themes & Stories
This month we’ll be learning about Tinkerbell, Simba & Nala, Bambi, Flick & Hopper, Alice in Wonderland. We will read Tinkerbell and Her Magical Friends, I am Simba, Bambi, A Bug’s Life, and Alice in Wonderland. Our Hours will remain 8-5. Friday share days are BACK! We’ve started getting our vaccines!!! Even so, please keep following our important illness & safety protocols at home and we’ll do the same at school.
Bring It: 3/29: Four hard boiled eggs – preschool only | 4/6: a lion
Egg decorating 3/29: We will provide fake eggs for Early Learners, Tiny Tots and Toddlers. Preschool parents please bring 4 hard boiled eggs on Monday 3/29 for us to decorate at school. Reminders will go home.
Wear it: 4/1 something sparkly | 4/12 Something brown | 4/21 An insect shirt | 4/26 A silly hat
Modified Spring Party 4/2: Early Learners & Toddlers look for signup sheet for spring party item signups. Preschoolers will receive a notice on what to bring to the party.
Share day is BACK 4/2! Every Friday children are encouraged to bring in a ball, a toy, a picture, or something else safe and interesting to school. Toys etc must be disinfected by parents before entry. Electronics with screens like ipads, ipods, phones, tablets, tvs etc should stay at home. Toy guns, water guns, anything that shoots or bangs needs to stay home too. | Remember anything can get lost or broken. Label everything and if anyone is worried about something breaking or disappearing leave it home. | Books can be brought in to share any day of the week. | Toys etc will be disinfected at school before going home. If it can’t be sprayed with disinfectant (except for books & pictures), please leave home. 🙂
Assessments & Parent Conference CALL 3/29-4/2: Written assessments are handed out 3/22. Your child’s teachers carefully observe your child to assess for appropriate developmental milestones. Children develop at their own pace so the criteria we follow offers a broad age range for each milestone. Some children might reach a designated milestone at 7 months old. But others might reach it at 4 months or 10 months. If you would like to schedule a conference by phone with your child’s teachers, sign up below. Staff Development Training 4/6 & 4/7: Mandated Reporter Training – How to spot possible abuse and how to report it. | Every month our teachers learn something new, take a look at something old from a new perspective, reinforce and reinvigorate previous education and training, or just have some hands-on fun through our regular training programs. | Learn more about our happy teachers here.
We have partnered with Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) again for 2021! This partnership allows us to provide regular free training to our teachers to make ourselves and our program even better! In addition to many training opportunity we will also have personal coaches to help us set goals for ourselves, the classrooms, the children and the school. Just one of the many ways we keep making Halsey Schools even better!
Graduating Busy Bee Cap & Gown Photos 4/27 9-12: Busy Bees will have their Cap & Gown Photos taken for our upcoming Graduation by Julie Lilly Photography. (Modified Graduation details TBA) The photos will be taken outside and the photographers will wear masks at all times. Each child will have their own cap & gown. No caps and gowns will be shared or reused. You will receive a signup form to request your preferred package, however if you don’t turn one in, your child’s picture will still be taken and you can choose a package later. Labeling your child’s items: Please label everything with your child’s name. All clothing, bags, lunch boxes, shoes, blankets, sheets… yes everything. Infant & Toddler Center, please label all bottles, cups, individual food containers, etc with your child’s name and date before the items are brought into school. Please label Breast Milk, newly pumped or frozen with your child’s name & date. You can find lots of labels on Amazon. We use Evelots Food Labels and Tinabless Bottle Labels.
Wear Sunscreen Everyday: It’s Sunscreen Time! If you’ve stopped applying daily sunscreen, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Children (10 months- 6yrs) should come to school wearing an SPF 30 or more on all exposed areas of the skin. If you would like us to re-apply a medication form must be completed. We also recommend wearing a hat. We will be having a lot of outdoor fun! (Always consult your child’s physician.)
Spring Change of Clothes: Please make sure your child has at least one complete set of extra spring clothes & shoes. Don’t forget to label everything.
Dropping off and picking up in the rain: Infant & Toddler Center: If it is raining, take your child directly to the appropriate door. At pickup go back to the same door. Please always remain outside. Teachers will help children wash their hands inside.
Temporary Hours remain: 8-5 with same drop off and pick up procedures.

Sheets & Blankets: All children must have a sheet & blanket for nap time everyday. Please make sure to send a sheet & blanket at the start of the week. Please have your child’s name printed on them. Thank you!
Self Screening at home: Keep up the good work! Parents and teachers have been doing an awesome job of self screening and staying home when any concerns arise. No runny noses. No illnesses. Only healthy teachers and children at school.

Report and isolate: If you or anyone in your family has had any exposure to any person who has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 report it to us immediately and self isolate. Thank you. Read More
Never send your child to school if you or anyone in your household is sick with anything and/or if you are waiting for COVID-19 test results for anyone in the household.

Traveling? Please let up know your plans so we can provide guidance on what you will need to do for your child to return.
Illness Policy: We follow a strict written Illness Policy
- All families & teachers self-check at home and are checked before entry for any signs of illness. Temperatures are checked. Anything >100° stays home. All illnesses stay home.
- Any COVID-19 symptoms require 1+ negative COVID-19 tests and/or 10-14 day quarantine and no symptoms. And administration/director approval. Read More
- If your child visits a doctor for any illness, please ask for a return authorization note. Halsey Schools reserves the right to exclude a child from school at any time for any reason, even if a doctor or other recommends otherwise
- If we have 3 or more children come down with something (other than COVID-19) we provide more information on the illness.
- Stay home with your child if you, your spouse or anyone else who is in your home regularly like a nanny, grandparent, sibling, cleaning person or your child tests positive for COVID-19. And notify us immediately.If there was possible exposure at school we will notify those possibly exposed directly.
