Happy Times October 2011

It’s time for Fall!

Pumpkins and Candy Corn

Fall is a wonderful time at Halsey Schools. The leaves are changing, the weather is changing, and the children are changing into pumpkins, princesses, pirates, ghosts… Here is what’s happening at our Preschool and Infant Center for October.

Picture Day:  Lifetouch Portraits will take our Back to School / Fall pictures.  Please make sure you sign up your children with the forms you’ll find in your child’s folder.  You can either have your child wear their picture outfit or bring it in to change into later. Preschool-Thursday, Oct. 6. Infants, Tiny Tots & Toddlers-Friday, Oct. 7.

Discovery Day:  We will have different learning centers arranged in the backyard from 10 – 11 a.m. for hands-on exploration and discovery for the children.  This will be a fun opportunity to learn with your child.  We hope you can make it!  Check out the fun from last year here.

Preschool Field Trip: Wednesday, October 19 (9:00 – 12:00) to Pierce College Pumpkin Patch. 20800 Victory blvd., Woodland Hills.  (818) 999-6300.  Please see permission slip located at the Sign in/out Sheet. (Available for Busy Bees, Dragonflies, Penguins & Potty Trained Pandas)

On Campus Field Trip: Thursday, October 20, 10:00-11:00 our annual on campus “Pumpkin Patch” for the Pandas, Toddlers, Tiny Tots & Infants. A great time for all when we bring pumpkins and fun for a pretend field trip.

Halloween:  We will celebrate Halloween with a parade and a party on Monday, October 31st.  Please see sign-up sheet in your child’s classroom for party favors and fun food.  All children should wear or bring their costume to school.  (Bring a change of clothes too.)  At 10:00, all children will parade to the Woodland Hills Retirement Center to visit and sing to our “adopted” grandparents.  Mommies and Daddies are welcome to attend.  Everyone will be dressed up, even our teachers.

Sheets & Blankets: All children must have a sheet & blanket for nap time everyday.  Please make sure to send a sheet & blanket at the start of the week.  Please have your child’s name printed on them.  Thank you!

Cold & Flu Season:  We are now officially in the Cold & Flu Season.  At Halsey Schools, we follow our written Illness Policy and written illness prevention procedures.  We make every effort to assure your child contracts as few illnesses as possible.  However, most children and adults will contract at least one illness between now and April.  REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR CHILD’S HANDS EVERYDAY BEFORE LEAVING SCHOOL OR ANY OTHER SOCIAL EVENT.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled October!
